Quality Control Manager

Colony Display, LLC specializes in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of custom point-of-purchase displays and large-scale retail fixture programs for national retailers across the United States.

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to report directly to the General Manager of Manufacturing. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality control processes that ensure our products consistently exceed customer expectations. The successful candidate will help eliminate defects, improve manufacturing processes, and work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage quality control operations for Colony Display’s Batavia and Bartlett manufacturing facilities.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train Quality Control Inspectors while communicating concerns to the Production Manager.
  • Oversee all global quality control inspectors and maintain consistent quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, procurement, and other departments to support quality initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Review customer specifications, checklists, supplier documentation, and internal requirements to develop standardized operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Create quality control specifications, inspection checklists, and documented procedures.
  • Analyze production trends, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in prototype reviews to ensure manufacturability and product quality.
  • Enforce quality assurance policies for new product development, engineering designs, and manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare regular quality reports including metrics, trend analysis, root cause investigations, and recommended improvements.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and manufacturing audits to verify compliance with quality standards before production is completed.
  • Follow projects from concept through nationwide installation to identify root causes and implement long-term corrective actions.

Performance Expectations

First 30 Days

  • Restructure the Quality Control organization as needed.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all newly established quality processes.

First 60 Days

  • Develop standardized SOPs and quality processes with overseas Quality Control personnel in collaboration with the Procurement team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous supervisory experience in quality assurance or quality control.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and related tools.
  • Comfortable working with both Metric and Imperial systems of measurement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and related applications.
  • Experience creating and analyzing data within Smartsheet.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Quality Control experience within a manufacturing environment.
